This course is a continuation to the History of English Literature. This time students will discover the characteristics of the Romantic period, analyzing works written by William Wordsworth, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, William Blake, Percy Bysshe Shelly, John Keats, Mary Shelly, and Jane Austen. They will also get acquainted with key features of the Victorian period as well as with the works of such Victorian authors as Charlotte Bronte, Emily Bronte, George Eliot, Charles Dickens, Thomas Hardy, Alfred Tennyson, Robert Browning, and Matthew Arnold. Finally, they will get an overview of the modern English literature, discussing works written by D.H. Lawrence, James Joyce, Virginia Woolf and so forth.
