This course aims at both familiarizing the students with the latest tendencies in the field of language education and enabling them to integrate the acquired knowledge into their language education process. Attention will be devoted to ways of integrating the 21st century skills alongside the basic skills in the language education process. It is important to realize that at present the language educator should adopt a wholistic approach to the education process. The students will be encouraged to create their own activities and lessons based on suggested both literary and non-literary texts (e.g. a news item, a blog post, a definition, a scientific text, etc.) applying the skills-integrated approach to their design. They will also try to elaborate a lesson based on the principles of task-based instruction. The course will implement the practices of microteaching in order to help students gain more confidence and experience when teaching in real classroom settings.
