Put it simply, lexicology is a branch of linguistics that studies words. Yet, the scope of lexicology is far wider than that. At this course, learners will get familiar with basic concepts in lexicology. They will revise the notion of the linguistic sign, and determine the internal structure of both words and lexicon. Finally, they will get to know the function of words, being able to distinguish between co-text, context, and mental lexicon. The course is intended to help learners build up their English vocabulary and gain more confidence while communicating in English in both written and oral forms.
